The inaugural Morgans Little Miami Triathlon was created in 1979, inspired by the Kona Ironman which debuted the previous year. Morgans Little Miami Triathlon was the first triathlon in the continental US, and the originator of the triathlon with canoeing replacing the swimming leg.
The triathlon has evolved over the years with thousands of athletes participating in this unique and fun race. With the increasing popularity of kayaking, we introduced the individual division for kayakers in the late 1990’s. We then introduced the half triathlon in 2015 for those who had time constraints or who wanted to compete with an older or younger family member or friend, or for those just not ready for the full tri. This also includes a walking division for those with knee issues or non-runners. This addition has made it more family friendly and appealing to all age ranges and skill levels.
Divisions include Male/Male, Female/Male, Female/Female, Parent/Child, Masters (combined ages 80+), and Centurions (combined ages 100+). Awards are mailed to the top 10% in each division.
Included in the entry fee is the use of the canoe or kayak with paddles and lifejackets, chipped timing, and a hot catered meal with beverages served at the race’s after party, which includes live entertainment provided by the Grey Dogs. T-Shirts can be ordered separately or a limited quantity will be available race day.
We have had generations come year after year to come participate in this great race!
