Lory's Place 5K Run,Walk, & Rock

About Lory's Place:
Since the opening of Lory’s Place bereavement programs in 2004, we have been honored to support over 37,000 children and adults after the death of a significant person. Our programs reach beyond our facility doors offering over 60 peer support groups in Allegan, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties.

In 2018, with the support of our community, grief support was provided for 126 children and teens and 349 adults at our location. Twenty-three children engaged in Camp Lifetimes and 1,010 students in community outreach groups.  We served 2,410 community contacts which includes immediate support following a crisis in a school or business, educational opportunities, and community collaborations.  Lory’s Place continually seeks opportunities to share our expertise and compassionate grief support. You can make a real difference!

About this Race:
This is the 15th anniversary of the Lory's Place Run, Walk and Rock to benefit Lory's Place, a Grief Healing and Education Center of Caring Circle, a Spectrum Health Lakeland.  Every year, Lory’s Place is honored and grateful for the community’s support of Run Walk Rock. All of the programs and services at Lory’s Place are available at no charge. That means that no child or adult is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. The children, adults, and families who are part of Lory’s Place join us in expressing deepest gratitude to you for supporting our mission of grief healing. 

Course Description:
The course will take runners and walkers through the Edgewater Development. Come and race beside sailboats in the marina, along the river, past Lake Michigan and its sandy beaches, down the historical brick streets of Ridgeway, and into parts of St. Joseph’s newest developments. All race events will begin and end at Lory’s Place in St. Joseph.  

Race/Time:
8:30 a.m. - 5K Run and 5K Walk

Cost/Registration Dates:
*Sprinter - If registered by March 31                                                                                            $25
*Middle of the Pack - If registered from April 1 to 30                                                                 $30
*Last Dash - If registered from May 1 to 16 (not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt)                   $35
*Back of the Pack - If Registered on May 17 or 18 (not guaranteed to receive a t-shirt)        $40
*If you registered May 1st to May 19th you are NOT guaranteed an event t-shirt. On Race Day you can check to see if there are any extras in your size to pick up one then.

Family/Group Rate:
Families or groups of four or more, receive $5 off each registration until May 16th.

Champions for Children Challenge:
Students, teachers, staff, and administrators are invited to represent their school in either the 5K walk or run! The school that has the most participants will receive the “Champions for Children” traveling trophy. You must indicate the school and/or grade you’re representing on the registration form to count towards this participation award. Please note the school on your registration in the area where it says "School Attending" if it is not on the list please include in the next question and it will be counted towards the school you listed.

Long Sleeve T-shirt:
To be guaranteed a commemorative 15 year long sleeve t-shirt participants must register before April 30th.  After April 30th, Note: If you registered for the 5K Run or 5K Walk from May 1 to May 18 you are not guaranteed a event t-shirt as noted on the registration form.

NEW...The selection of "No Shirt" option during registration will receive a $5.00 credit at checkout. 

Awards:
The top three age finishers in each run and walk category will receive an award. This years award will be a custom Lory's Place medal. NEW.....We will have the awards available for all winners to pick up following a brief closing ceremony.

Age Categories:
8 and under, 9-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, and 85+

Packet Pick Up Information:
Participants who pre-registered can pick up their race packets on Friday, May 17, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lory’s Place, 445 Upton Drive, St. Joseph, MI.  

Parking:
Please park in the Whirlpool Tech Center parking lot located south of Momany Drive on Upton Drive.

Rocking Chair Sponsorship:
Requested donation of $150 per rocking chair may reflect gifts of an individual or a group. Rocker sponsors are invited to design their own dedication signs to hang on the rockers during the race. Rocker sponsorship's are due on or before May 10.

Rocking Chair Raffle:
If you register by May 16th you will automatically be entered to win one of our signature white rocking chairs.
