About the event

A tribute to Mandela and a triumph of the human spirit.

The Mandela Day Marathon was initiated in 2012 to honor the life and times of President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

It starts from Arya Samaj Hall (Manayi Hall) in Imbali, where our international icon, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, made his last public speech on 25 March 1961 at the All-in-Africa conference to Nelson Mandela Capture Site where he was arrested outside Howick.

The third place went to Mark Oyugu with a time of 02:31:03 In the women’s race, Loice Jebet claimed victory with a time of 02:50:00 , ahead of Selam Abere Alebachew (02:53:21). Loice Jebet got the third place in 02:50:00. Mandela Day Marathon Tekletsion Kassahun Tefera outpaced more then 2773 runners to win in 02:28:31. Lyno Muchena earned runner-up honors with a time of 02:28:36. Kebede Aberra Dinke got the third place in 02:28:44. For the women, Mamorallo TJOKA claimed victory with a time of 02:49:00 . Selam Abere ALEBACHEW earned runner-up honors with a time of 02:49:02. Finishing third was Loveness MADZIVA (02:58:57). Top 5 Men Top 5 Women Complete results Mandela Day Half Marathon Jobo Khatoane and David Manja finished the race in the same time of 01:05:20, sharing the victory. Rounding out the top three was Joel Mmone with a time of 01:06:31. In the ladies race, it was Betha CHIKANGA (01:18:29) taking the top spot, followed by Rudo MHONDERWA who finished with a time of 01:18:37. The third place went to Rutendo NYAHORA with a time of 01:21:14 Top 5 Men Top 5 Women Complete results Mandela Day 10K The victory went to Precious Mashele who crossed the finish line at 00:30:55. He bested Namakoe Nkhasi who crossed the finish line 6 seconds behind him. The third place went to Tabang Mosiako with a time of 00:31:12 For the women, Jenet MBHELE got a win, finishing with a time of 00:37:22 , followed by Malineo MAHLOKO who finished with a time of 00:38:15.
