Hard to predic the winners at Sunday's Marcialonga Running Coop

01 Sep, 2016 (Thu)

Credit : Marcialonga Running Italy’s Marcialonga Running Coop will once again be at the start in the picturesque town of Moena and, as tradition goes, it will run fast up to Cavalese, next Sunday 4 September. Big names in the running and athletics world will show up in Moena (start at 9.30am) and fight hard to reach first the finish line after the unique 26k-long course that runs through the villages of Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, surrounded by the stunning Dolomites. Flipping through the starting list of the 14th Marcialonga Running Coop, it seems quite tough to predict winners both amongst men and women. Vasyl Matviychuk, Micah Kiplagat Samoei, Philimon Kipkorir Maritim, Abdelkabir Saji, Sergey Butkyavichyus, Said Boudalia, Giovanni Gualdi, Peter Lanziner, Massimo Leonardi, Simone Gobbo, Alessandro Vuerich, Viola Jelagat, Ivana Iozzia, Monica Carlin, Federica Schievenin, Eliana Patelli and Deborah Toniolo are all confirmed, it is going to be fun! On the eve of the race, a promo event for kids (6-12 y.o.) named Minirunning will get on the streets of Moena at 5.30pm on Saturday, and two super athletes as the XC skier and Olympic gold medalist Cristian Zorzi and the strong alpine skier Cristian Deville will be part of the event and give all participants important advice. ‘First and foremost sport is fun – Zorzi said – and no matter where and when you do sport, you must enjoy it and let spectators enjoy the show. Kids must learn this and practice hard with passion and determination. The Marcialonga team perfectly knows how to make people enjoy this event and we, Cristian Deville and I, want to entertain kids and let them have as much fun as possible.’ ‘It is such an honor – added Deville – for me to be part of this event though I’m definitely not a pro in running. I totally agree with Cristian that kids and youngsters have to enjoy sport first of all and practice hard cause it is healthy for body, mind and soul.’ Entries to the 14th Marcialonga Running Coop are still open. Marcialonga Running Coop A Great Event Amongst the Italian Dolomites

04 Sep, 2015 (Fri)

Credit : Marcialonga Running Italy’s Marcialonga Running Coop event on Sunday 6 September Over 1600 participants from all around the planet to race in Trentino region Mokraji, Boudalia, Gualdi, Patelli, Giordano and Toniolo amongst the top runners Entries open until tomorrow The 2015 Marcialonga Running Coop has finally come…true! On Sunday 6 September, thousands of sportsmen and sportswomen will be gathering in Trentino region, at the foot of the stunning Dolomites, all ready to enjoy the 13th edition of the race through unique Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. The event will start off in Moena at 9.30am and the new finish area will be set in Cavalese town centre that all the participants will reach after a 25.7k long and relatively easy path with the only quite demanding uphill located right before the end. Two intermediate sprint lines, sponsored by Enervit and Salomon, are located along the course, namely inside the XC Stadium in Lago di Tesero (after 18 kilometres) and in Masi di Cavalese (Half Marathon line). As said, over 1600 runners are to take part in Sunday’s Marcialonga Running Coop and hundreds of them come from 23 nations around the globe, from Norway to Canada, from Morocco to Greece, Germany, Poland, Bolivia and South Africa, to mention but a few. Regarding the top runners already registered at the start of Sunday’s Men’s race, Moroccan Lahcen Mokraji and Said Boudalia certainly represent the ‘Men to Beat’ as Mokraji won in 2013 and crossed third the finish line last year, while Boudalia closed second in 2014 and in 2012, behind Italy’s Giovanni Gualdi who will attempt to ‘repeat himself’ this year. Italian Lanziner and Jbari also could fight for gold in two days time. On the women’s side, about 400 ladies will be at the start of 2015 Marcialonga Running Coop and Eliana Patelli of Italy is the number one favourite as she already climbed the highest step of the podium in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Her main opponents will be past winner Deborah Toniolo and Laura Giordano. Sunday’s Marcialonga Running Coop is the third and last race of the Combined Event ‘Punto3 Craft’ together with the Cycling Craft Granfondo race and the notorious winter ski-marathon. Italy’s Thomas Bormolini and Roberta Tarter sit on top of the provisional standings. The Minirunning event for kids on Sunday morning (Cavalese – start at 10am), the Mizuno Day on Saturday (Moena) and the Expo on both days will entertain everybody, racers, guests and tourists. Entries to the 2015 Marcialonga Running Coop are open until tomorrow, but those who book a bib today – and today only – will pay 30 Euro.
