Join us this year for the 14th annual Movin’ for Community Outreach 5K to benefit Tarboro Community Outreach! Like everything else, our race will be a little different this year, but we hope you will join us either in-person on April 10 or virtually on your own time between April 3 and April 10 to keep our tradition of running, walking, and supporting TCO going for yet another year. Some things will be different this year to make this race work while complying with safety guidelines protecting all the participants and volunteers. Please see updated registration information and COVID safety protocols below before signing up. You’re welcome to contact us with any questions by following the link below.
Thank you for your continued support of the race and TCO and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Register to either run in-person or virtually before March 19 for $20. Registration after March 19, including race-day registration will be $25.
During registration, participants will be asked to select a time corral indicating which 15-minute period they will start the race. Corrals will each be 15 minutes and will begin at 8:30 AM and end at 10:00 AM. There is a limit of 20 participants per corral to limit the number of people at the start line at any time. The first two corrals will be reserved for runners so that they may get out on the course to limit the number of people together at any point along the course. You may begin the race at any time within your 15-minute period. The timing software will register the time you began and finished the race. Please remember to bring your race number bib as the bibs contain the timing chip which will be detected at the start and finish lines of the race. If you do not have your race bib, your time will not be recorded.
Please register as early as possible to guarantee we will have a race t-shirt for you on race day. We will order these shirts in advance and will try to estimate the number and sizes of shirts so that everyone participating will receive a shirt, but to be safe please register by April 5. Shirts are only guaranteed to registrants registered by April 5.
Race-day registration will be contactless registration via runsignup. More information will be posted and emailed to past participants at a later time, however, we encourage everyone to register prior to race day to limit in-person contact between participants and volunteers and we thank you in advance.
Please arrive 20 minutes before your desired start time and report to one of the registration volunteers outside of the church’s fellowship hall to register on the day of the race. If a time corral is already full, you may have to wait to begin the race until there is an opening in an un-filled corral to limit the number of people congregating at the start line. Again, if you are able to register prior to race day, we believe it will be easier to begin the race when you would like to.
If you ran or walked with us last year in 2020, you will remember the virtual Movin’ for Community Outreach 5K. We have opened the race up to in-person running and walking this year, but we will still have a virtual option if you would rather participate remotely. We understand individual preferences are different and we will enjoy and be thankful for your participation either way! During registration, you may select to run or walk the race virtually. You may participate virtually any time, any where during the week of April 3 through April 10. Unfortunately, if you participate virtually your times will not be included in the in-person race results, but like last year, we encourage you to post your race time and any race photographs to the race’s Facebook page HERE. Virtual race participants will also receive a race t-shirt. If you are local, you will be able to pick up your virtual race packet during pre-race packet pickup on Friday, April 9. If you live out-of-town, we will be glad to mail your race t-shirt to you and you will see an option for that during the registration process.
Race Packet Pickup:
Optional pre-race packet pickup will be Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5:30 to 7:30 in the fellowship hall parking lot of Howard Memorial Presbyterian at 303 E. St. James Street in Tarboro, NC.
Race packets will also be available for pickup on race day. Once you pick up your race packet, please return to your vehicle until 5 minutes before your race start time. You may begin the race any time within the 15 minute period of your registration.
Water and Water Stations:
There will be bottled water at the finish line, however, there will not be a water station on the race course as there has been in previous years. Please bring your own water bottle if you would like to have water during the race.
COVID Safety Protocols:
We are attempting to work with all local and church officials to ensure that this race is organized and operated in a way that is safe for everyone who participates or volunteers. We are grateful for all of you and your support of the race and we hope that it can be done as safely as possible. To that end, please try to register in advance so that you can avoid in-person race-day registration. If you do not pick up your race packet on Friday, April 9, please arrive on race day early enough to get your race packet. It is very important that you get your race number (bib) so that your time can be tracked. Your race time will not appear in the results if you do not pick up and run or walk with your race number on race day.
Once you have your race packet on race day, please return to your vehicle or the parking lot until approximately 5 minutes before your scheduled time to begin the race. You may start the race ANY TIME during the 15-minute corral that you selected during race registration. Once you have finished the race, please do not congregate in large groups outside or around the church property. The church building will be closed to everyone except race organizers on race day.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and hope that we can still have an awesome time on race day. We also hope that we will be back to normal by the 15th annual race next year!
Awards will be given to the top 3 men and women as well as the top 3 men and women in the following age groups: 1-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Plans for award presentations will be made closer to race day.
