Mrs. G's 36for36

Race Description

Some people celebrate birthdays with uncomfortable dinners in the company of extended family we only see a few times a year, listening to stories we would really prefer not to hear… again… for like the fifth time. Other people celebrate alone, drowning themselves with a near endless supply of Publix cake and boxed wine. Let’s not forget the Dave and Busters crowd, folks whose first thought jumped straight to celebrating at Chuck E. Cheese, but luckily were able to catch themselves before coming off as “unsavory”. I suppose you shouldn’t knock any individual’s preferred method of celebration, but when Amy offered up the idea of celebrating her birthdays with trail running I was immediately on board. That idea has grown a bit from a handful of runners to an open invite ultra marathon aimed at getting people of all ages and ability levels outside and onto our local trails.

The format is as such: On Saturday March 13th at the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve runners will have the ability to participate in a 36 race, run entirely on single track. For those looking to do less than the aforementioned 36 miles, we have 9 and 18 mile options as well.

The course is an 18 mile loop, with a short cut for the 9 mile option. 36 mile runners will do the loop twice. There are 2 main aid stations: 1 at the start/finish and the other midway which you will visit several times. Skratch and water will be provided at both aid stations, however due to the limits of COVID-19 restrictions nutrition will be limited to single use gel packets. Additionally, you will have the option of drop bags at the midway aid station. The race is cupless though, so be sure to bring your own bottle or collapsible cup. Race timing will be provided by Runner’s High Timing and professional race photos are provided by Blair Bauer Photography.

We’ve been fortunate enough to receive the support of The Running Elements, Altra Running, and Caterpy in addition to Skratch Labs, so aside from the run we will have store giveaways and trail shoe demos of some of Altra’s latest additions to their trail lineup. This is a family friendly event and we will be sharing the park and other common areas with the locals so please behave accordingly. Public Land conservation and stewardship is something we at Juanchi’s Kidz are passionate about and we are excited to share that passion with you! An added bonus of running any Juanchi’s Kidz event is that no less than 10% of your race registration fees will be donated to the benefit of local public lands, in this case the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve.
