The first half was amazing. The second half was not that good, but the finish line was also great. I still don’t know where to get the official pictures from the event. I’m trying everyday

It was too hot, but an awesome race.

It was very well organised, throughout the route people were cheering us up. Water station were on right places and even wet sponges were provided. Upon the finish they provided us right items to hydrate and eat. Huge celebration was organised, different cutouts were placed for pictures. Public transport was free to reach the venue and even return journey.

I have been a smoker so couldn't run outside and during Covid i started running and quit smoking, now i am slowly training myself to run in marathons around the world. This March 2023 i did one run for 5K and August 2023 10K, thats why selected 15K for achievable target

Beautiful track, amazing views with a little challenge at the end. The Sultan Achmed passage on the last 3 km was steep and had 200 meters of altitude. Anyhow, Istanbul is a great city!

Sunny day, running on two continents was very cool. Unbeatable start on the Bosphorus Bridge!

this is a really nice experience with a great track you run over the Bosphorus which is the border between Asia and Europe. I've done the 15k event last year and will train for the 42k hopefully

Yesterday was my 10th Marathon and it was the worst experience ever. I’m upset by the lack of organisation by the Istanbul Marathon. First of all, on the evening before the run, I didn‘t even know how to get to the Start. There is no information on the website. And by the way, the website was down or really slow on the day before the run. It took a call to the city council at saturday night 11pm to find out that there are busses to the start. The next thing, there were only few volonteers at the start and they sent me in the wrong direction. It’s an international marathon and non of the volonteers spoke englisch. The buses that transport the bags were long gone, when I arrived. And again, there was no information, where to drop off the bags. Lots of runners ended up carriing their bags through the whole race. At Last, I ended up at the starting line of the 15k race. There was total chaos regarding the covid measures. A lot of people didn‘t even wear masks. None of the officials cared. During the race I ended up at the 15k finish line, where all the finishers crowded the race course. At first I didn’t know where to go, until I saw a very small sign leading the way to the 42k course. After the 15k mark there were almost no people on the sides, because the track is on a motorway. But even in the populated areas further out, there was nobody. Just a few volonteers handing out waterbottles. And there is one more thing, I never experienced at a marathon. There was no food. Not even a banana or a cracker. Just a can of red bull at km26 that made me feel sick. On the way back to the city there wasn‘t even water, because the volonteers had already left. There also were busses and cars passing the runners at high speeds while the race was still going. Runners mostly wear headphones and they don’t see whats coming behind them. That is a serious safety hazard. The finishing area was near a crowded shopping street and the last metres of the race went steep uphill through that area. And here again. None of the Security people cared, that shoppers were crossing the race course. To make the experience complete, after the finish line I got a small bag with a medal wrapped in plastic and a chocolate cracker. Whoever is responsible for this. Go and do your homework. People are preparing for month to run a marathon and they don’t deserve to be treated like this.
