Nafplio Castle Run

Come experience the unique Nafplio Castle Run sports event, the only race in Greece where you can ascend a castle! The event is organized by the Municipality of Nafplio (DOPPAT) in cooperation with GE Argolidas Sports Club, under the auspices of EOT (Greek Tourism Organisation) and PSAT (Panhellenic Sports Press Association), and with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Chamber of Argolis, and the Center for Greek Studies (Greece) of Harvard University. It offers 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km junior runs. Aims of the event include creating an exciting sports event that draws runners from all over Greece, promoting Nafplio's natural beauty and its long, significant cultural heritage and traditions, and opening a dialogue for the significance and connection of monuments with the present. The start and finish line will be situated on 25th of March Street, in front of the entrance to the castle, and event services will be located along the same street.Palamidi is one of the most beautiful castles in Greece, and the largest and best preserved fortress complex of the Venetian domination. It was designed by Giaxich and built by the French LaSalle, completed in 1714 to serve the military and naval operations of the Venetians.
