Nature Center Playground Run

The Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center has been a fixture in the Pueblo Community for many years. Several years ago the playground complex was destroyed by severe weather. Many members and organizations in our community are partnering with the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center to rebuild the playground and to make it a multi- generational opportunity for members of our community to come and enjoy this wonderful facility dedicated to the discovery and preservation of the outdoors.

The goal of the run is to assist in the fundraising activity and continue to promote the love of the outdoors in Pueblo. In addition to the days events being kicked off by the 5k run/walk, there will be food and games for kids and families as well as a raptor talk.

This fundraiser run takes you through gravel trails along the Arkansas river starting at the Nature Center Parking Lot. The trail will wind along the Nature Center Trails westward and turnaround at the 2.5 Km mark to return to the Start/finish. The trail has little elevation gain with some small paved sections. It is mostly double track and is suitable for the avid runner, novice,and walking enthusiast. The trail showcases the heart of the open space as well as the river, trees,and wildlife that our community is provided by this wonderful opportunity. There will be a water stop at the 2.5km turnaround mark. 

Packet pick up will be race day from 8:00-8:45 at the Nature Center main parking lot near the Starting line. The Race Begins at 9am in the main parking lot.

Each participant will receive a commemorative race shirt and meal provided with race bib as well as access to the other activities.
