About the event
The course is the Murray to Mountains bitumen sealed cycling path (also known as the "Rail Trail") from Wangaratta to Gapsted. The path is 2m+ wide, with very little camber and plenty of spots with good shade, trees and scenery generally.
Entrants will leave the Rail Trail at the Gapsted Winery, cross immediately over the Alpine Highway, proceed to and turn right at the Snow Road.
Then 27km section along the Snow Road has a "normal" right side road camber, is generally unshaded with nice views as you head over Henley Ridge.
The bitumen sealed cycling path from Milawa back to and through Wangaratta to the finish is super dooper flat, fast, even and with virtually no camber. Legs that get to 75km in good condition should do well in that final section if temperatures are mild.
The last 12km into and through town along the One Mile Creek and Ovens River should be especially pleasant for those coherent enough to enjoy it.
