Battle of Terrain Half Marathon Race Series October 12th & 13th, 2024   Join us for an unforgettable weekend of running excitement! You have the choice of participating in either the Trail race on Saturday within the scenic Paris Mountain State Park or the Road Race on Sunday that conquers Paris Mountain via The Altamont Road. And for the truly daring souls who take on both challenges, an exclusive "Marathon" Medal awaits, recognizing your remarkable 26.2-mile achievement!   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Paris Mountain Half Marathon Event Details For the Trail Race - Saturday   Prepare for a thrilling adventure on this expansive 13-mile trail system! Starting at the base of the mountain, you'll follow the enchanting path around Lake Placid before ascending northward along Mountain Creek trail, heading into Sulphur Springs. Here, the true trail aficionados will find their hearts racing as they navigate the rugged terrain. The journey continues around North Lake, down Kanuga, and through the challenging Brissy Ridge section. This trail will set your legs ablaze while fueling your adventurous spirit. Come experience this well-kept Upstate secret for yourself! What: Paris Mountain 13.1 Trail Race @ 8am Where: Paris Mountain State Park When: Saturday October 12th 2024 Address: 2401 State Park Rd, Greenville, SC 29609 Packet Pickup: will be held at Shelter #3 located behind the main parking lot @ 7am Parking: The main gate of the state park will be open at 6:30am. You can access the park at this address: 2401 State Park Rd. Greenville, SC 29609. Fees: $6 adults - $3.75 SC seniors - $3.50 children age 6-15 - age 5 & younger are free Youth 8 & Under Race for Free  Course Map HERE - Elevation Gain is 2300 Feet The Half Marathon entails a single 13.1-mile loop, start and finishing at Shelter #3 behind the main parking lot. With a total elevation gain of 2,300 feet, the course offers a mix of single track trails, wide switchbacks, encounters with three different lakes featuring waterfalls, and two challenging steep climbs. Aid Stations - There are two aid stations on course during the 13 mile loop with the first one coming at mile 4.6 and the 2nd one at mile 10.4. Items will include water, tailwind, assorted crackers, chips, cookies, and soda. Please Bring your own water/hydration cup/flask. 

This is a CUPLESS event as runners are required to have their own hydration carrying bottles or packs. 

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Altamont Half Marathon Event Details for the Road Race - Sunday   The Road Race conquers the summit of Paris Mountain via Altamont Road, providing breathtaking vistas stretching from the Reedy River in the Upstate to the Foothills and the Blue Ridge Mountains extending into North Carolina. Brace yourself for heart-pounding climbs with sections reaching up to 20% inclines! The grind is worth it, but don't forget that after you reach the summit at the halfway point, you get to turn around and conquer it once more! What: Altamont Half 13.1 Race Where: Poinsette Park (Road Course of Paris Mountain) When: Sunday October 13th 2024 @ 8am Address: 5 Pine Forest Rd, Travelers Rest, SC 29690 Packet Pickup: will be held at Poinsette Park at the shelter Parking: Available adjacent to the shelter and along the parks perimeter on Pine Forest Rd.  Course Map HERE - Elevation Gain is  1875 Feet This half marathon route is an out and back on one of the most scenic and difficult races in the Upstate. The race starts from Poinsett Park and runs down Frontage Road to Altamont Road. From there you will stay on the same road all the way to the Audubon loop before turning back up Altamont and back to Poinsett Park Aid Stations - There are three aid stations along the course. The first aid station will be located at mile 3 (water / tailwind only). The 2nd aid station will be located at the half way point and turnaround at CVS. The 3rd aid station will be located at mile 10 (same aid station as the first) Items may include: pickles, cookies, chips, Little Debbie snacks, assorted candy, chicken/veggie broth, fig newtons, & pretzels. Liquids will include water, Tailwind Nutrition, coke, and ginger ale. If you would like to donate an aid station supply of something that we do not offer or that is homemade feel free! 

This is a CUPLESS event so runners are required to carry their own hydration bottles or packs
