PHEEL GOOD 5k is a special 5k that celebrates the life and honors the memory of local Lakeland runner, Phil Brown, who was killed while riding his motorcycle to work on the morning of March 1, 2017.
Immediately following the tragedy, Phil’s employer, Duke Energy, and the Duke Energy staff, family & friends quickly organized the first Phil Brown Memorial 5k which took place on April 1, 2017 for Duke Energy employees and their family at the Hines Energy Complex (power plant). In 2018, the event celebrated its 2nd year at Hines Energy Station. THIS year, this very special event is being opened to the community and will take place along the Fort Fraser Trail in Bartow. Runners and walkers are encouraged to join the celebration of Phil’s life by lacing up and logging miles along the paved trail that Phil SO enjoyed running! All proceeds will benefit Phil’s alma mater, Williamson College of the Trades, AND the PHEEL GOOD Foundation, the non-profit organization founded in Phil’s honor.
