Purple Light Project 5k Fun Run & Walk

The Purple Light Project strives to bring attention and support to our emergency psychiatric patients in Hartford Hospital’s Emergency Department. Purple signifies the “purple pod” which is the psychiatric section of the ER. The light represents our light always being on for those suffering from mental health crisis. Basic needs of our vulnerable patients include warm winter clothing, medicine, food, hygiene supplies, blankets, taxi/bus vouchers, etc. Mental health needs are stigmatizing and far too often, in the shadows. We don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know someone right now who isn’t struggling. We want to encourage people to seek the services they need knowing they have their community’s support so we are a hosting the 1st Annual Purple Light Project 5K Race and Walk on Saturday, October 2 in Hartford.
