Race for the Summitt 4-Miler

The third annual Knoxville Race for the Summitt 4-Miler is organized by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy's Academy of Student Pharmacists chapter to benefit The Pat Summitt Foundation. The Pat Summitt Foundation was founded by the legendary head coach of the Lady Vols Basketball team, Coach Pat Summitt, to promote education and research for Alzheimer's disease. The race course features a 4-mile tour of the UTK campus, where legendary coach Pat Summitt established her legacy. Show your support for Coach Summitt by running or walking in the race and asking friends and family members to become Memory Donors. Please join us in "Backing Pat!"

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three female and male runners in each age group.

Age Groups: 9&Under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49,
50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+

The top three runners overall will receive an additional award.

Parking Information

Parking will be in the G-10 parking garage located behind Circle Park on Phillip Fulmer Way next to Thompson Boling Arena. Parking is free and no permit will be required.

Schedule of Events

Packet Pick Up Info: Race day packets can be picked up before the race at a designated packet pick up location or the day of the race. If you plan to pick up your race day packet on race day, please arrive by 8 AM to do so.

Registration on Race Day: Registration will be availble in person on race day, however, the cost will be $35 per person.

About the Host

The race is hosted by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy's ASP (Academy of Student Pharmacists) chapter. Our chapter's mission is to provide professional development and leadership opportunities for student pharmacists, raise awareness about and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in the healthcare system, and provide health services and education to the citizens of Tennessee. The first Race for the Summitt 4-MIler was held on the College of Pharmacy's Memphis campus in the Spring of 2011. Last fall marked the second time the race was brought to the Knoxville campus. This will be the third annual Race for the Summitt 4-Miler in Knoxville.

About the Beneficiary

The mission of The Pat Summitt Foundation is to fight Alzheimer’s disease with a comprehensive approach, awarding grants to organizations that provide:

Research to treat, prevent, cure, and ultimately eradicate this disease,
Education and awareness of Alzheimer's, its onset and treatment,
Support services to patients, their families and caregivers.
