About the event

On October 4th, 2015, Spruce Run-Womancare Alliance will hold the 19th annual Race to End Domestic Abuse, our flagship event in Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This event is our largest fundraiser supporting our non-profit organization and provides us with an opportunity to promote awareness of the issue of domestic violence and abuse while engaging community members in this movement. The race and walk are one way that we show our intolerance for domestic violence and bring together individuals, businesses and students to help us show support to victims and survivors. At 7:30 am there will be a delicious community breakfast at the Piscataquis Community Elementary School, and the race/walk events will follow at 9 am.

A hearty breakfast will be offered including pancakes, bacon, eggs, muffins, and much more for $5 per person (kids under 2 years eat free). The race registration will begin at 8am. The race begins in the driveway of Piscataquis Community Elementary School at 25 Campus Drive in Guilford, Maine. Runners will take a left out of the parking lot onto Blaine Avenue and will continue on taking another left onto Route 15 or Water Street, past Goulette’s IGA and the Athletic Field. Runners will progress to the Piscataquis River Walk, winding along the banks of the Piscataquis River during peak foliage season. The route continues to the junction of Route 23 where runners will take a left until they reach Route 15 and take another left. This will lead runners back to the school and to the finish line.
We invite all participants to stay for a spirited awards ceremony!
Please note: dogs are not permitted during the race or at the finish line. Please do not bring pets to the event.
