About the event

The Weston Kiwanis Club is honored to host the eighth year of the Reservoir Run Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids Fun Run. We encourage you to join us for the Kiwanian's premier event. The Weston Community, Police, Town and Schools join together every year to bring you one of the finest events in CT. All of our events have a great reputation - always well organized, great shirts, terrific food and awesome give-aways. You will appreciate the attention to details and friendliness of everyone involved. The terrain and amazing scenery along our courses was uniquely deigned by Mother Nature! We think you'll love the views and the challenge. LOCATION: All events start and finish at one of the USA's Blue Ribbon Schools- Weston High. Many volunteers will be on hand to guide you thru your day and running adventures. Both events are bib-chip timed. START TIMES: 5K starts promptly at 8:30 am followed by the classic Half Marathon distance at 8:40 am  (If you believe your half marathon journey will take over three hours we can arrange for an early start.) Our half marathon course will be closing in three hours to accommodate traffic flow.   Email our Race Director Marty Schaivone for early start details- [email protected]   THE COURSES: Although roads are not closed, both courses are well maintained and protected by the Weston Police and many volunteers. The 5K course has some rolling hills and one water stop.  It's a simple loop course on quiet roads, all turns and all miles are marked. Course map link:  http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6945597  The challenging Half Marathon course has FIVE water stops, great directional signage, and all miles are marked.  There is always terrific Autumn scenery to keep you relaxed and 'occupied'!  Course map link:  https://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7160881  HALF MARATHON DESCRIPTION:  In the first half of the course you'll travel on rolling hills along the border of the Saugatuck Reservoir. After running past the Reservoir dam you'll fly downhill for over a half mile along the Saugatuck River and the area known as 'Devils Den'. Next you'll enjoy over a two mile long stretch of flat road, still along the river. You'll pass some of the stately homes historic Weston is known for.   The last two miles will test your endurance as you work your way back up to Weston High where you'll receive your well earned finishers medal.   For those that have been with us before our Half Marathon course map will be identical to last year! With the cooperation of the DOT & local police there will be a protected lane on Weston Rd for Runners to travel up mile 12. Get ready to ‘attack the Beast!’   AFTER YOUR GREAT FINISH: You'll collect your Finisher's Medal and go back to the cafeteria where you will be treated to a terrific variety of foods, fluids and nationally recognized Yummy Cookies.  There will be entertainment while you eat, relax, re-hydrate and get ready for the awards and raffle.  Don't leave - you must be present to win GREAT GIFTS!   PRIZES: Awards will be presented ASAP after the 5K finish and then later for the Half Marathon after the majority of the finishers are in. Overall male and female champions in both races receive awards & are removed from their age groups.  Only the 5K has age divisions  9 & under, and 10-13.  BOTH 5K & Half Marathon events have age groups 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+  For accurate results and awards we do need to wait until a majority of finishers are in so that all age groups are represented.  SHIRTS: T-shirt size is guaranteed thru midnight October 11. After that date shirt sizing will be "as available". Shirt ordering and printing must be done in advance to insure completion in time for distribution. Don't get shut out for your size...or we could run out. AMENITIES: There is plenty of parking, lots of bathrooms and a warm gym for late registration and pre-reg pickup starting at 7 am.   OUR DONATIONS-ORGANIZED BY THE KIWANIS CLUB OF WESTON
