The 2009 running of the Ridge Run Half Marathon and 5K will be the fourth annual running of the event in this town set in the southern part of Washington state near the border with Oregon, along the Columbia River. The race takes participants through the rolling hills of Ridgefield and adjacent to the nearby Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, a 5,217-acre preserve filled with river flood plain habitat areas, seasonal and permanent wetlands, and agricultural lands. Famous for a visit by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1806, the park now welcomes thousands of visitors annual for its wildlife viewing and hiking and nature trails. The half marathon begins at 9:00 AM at the Ridgefield High School (Home of the Spudders!).
