Lakeland Education Foundation (LEF) is a 501c3 designated non-profit organization, established in 2014, that seeks to provide resources to the public schools and teachers for the enrichment of the students located within the corporate limits of the City of Lakeland, Tennessee.

LEF wishes to assist the Lakeland School System with maintaining a school system that is inclusive and ensures all children receive a quality education so they may realize their full potential. To that end, we provide teacher grants for items that the school system either does not have the budget for or are items they don’t typically fund in general. The teachers, who are in the classroom working with the children every day, often make the requests for items that will allow them to engage and enrich the educational experience for the children they are teaching. The more engaged the children are, the more they listen and retain what is being taught.

Our contributions are having an impact. LEF has previously provided math and reading supplements that aid in comprehension. Lakeland Elementary ranked number one in the state in these subjects for two consecutive years. In addition, the district’s scores were the highest in the state in the sub-groups of Economically Disadvantaged and Students with Disabilities. We ranked highest in the state in math in the combined sub-group of Black/Hispanic/Native American. Our mission to assist the teachers, so that they may offer the best education possible and the children can be the best they can be, is paying off…for the children and the community.

Exceptional schools and educated children are fundamental to economic development. At the end of the day, it is all about the children. We must provide every child with an exceptional learning experience so that they will reach their full potential and, in turn, help us have a better community in the future.

LEF needs your help to continue funding the teacher grants that have a positive impact on the children and the community. With the addition of Lakeland Middle Preparatory School, the need has grown, but you can make a difference.

Join us for the Annual ROCK-n-ROAR 5K and Fun Run that is to be held at Lakeland Elementary School on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 9:00 am.  5K runners will be chip-timed. Awards offered in every age group, including youth awards. After the race, we will have an art festival, food, music, food trucks, and more for the attendees to enjoy.
