Run 4 Water MKE

In 2017 Milwaukee is going to celebrate United Nations World Water Day on April 30th!

Please join us in the Sixth Annual event on Sunday, April 30, 2017.

The 5K walk will symbolize distances travelled to access water in other parts of the globe. 

It starts at 9:15am at Veterans Park near the coast of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee.  From there we will walk along the lakeshore of Lake Michigan - Veterans Park, McKinley Marina, Lakeshore Drive, and back to Veterans Park.

Packet pick-up and same day registration from 7:00am to 8:30am. Information from local water and cultural organizations will be present.  

We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up, registration, and directing participants along the route.   We are asking local businesses to sponsor buckets of water... with that we need volunteers willing to relay these buckets of water in a walk OR run fashion.

Mission

 In many parts of the world, access to water is very difficult.  A major chore for the day involves walking an average of 3 miles each way to provide water for the family.

Run 4 Water MKE Mission:
Our mission is to acknowledge the importance of water in the daily lives of all human beings. Our annual walk/run is a statement of unity with the effort involved to access water.

This mission is congruent with the United Nations World Water Day.
