Due to the dynamic situation around the coronavirus, and updated health and governmental official guidance, we are transitioning the SWA Run AWAY 5K to be held on April 5 to a virtual race. As this race benefits the nonprofit Resource Depot, we felt this is the best action to take.
Your bib, medal and t-shirt will be mailed to the address you provided with your registration. As an added bonus, you will receive a bin pass to Resource Depot, so you can “shop” their reuse warehouse when businesses open back up. The pass is good until the end of the year.
To emphasize the virtual aspect of this decision, we have marked a 3.3 mile race course on our trails, accessible at 7501 N. Jog Road for you to still run. At this time, the SWA trails are open seven days a week from dawn until dusk. We hope you will run your own Run AWAY 5K on the SWA Greenway Trail System, or feel free to run wherever you feel most comfortable!
We encourage you to share pictures of your personal Run AWAY 5K and tag @SWAPBC @resourcedepot (Instagram) or @SolidWasteAuthority @TheResourceDepot (Facebook) using #RunAWAY5K and #ThisIsAway. If you know anyone who would also like to participate in the virtual run, registration remains open until April 5.
As 100% of proceeds from the Run AWAY 5K go to Resource Depot, a local nonprofit organization that inspires creativity, conservation and community engagement through reuse, we appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time. We look forward to running together again in spring of 2021!
