On Monday April 15, 2013 the 117th running of the Boston Marathon was marred by tragedy. This tragedy impacted many lives around the globe. The Run for One 5K is a local effort born out of one runner’s need to give back. Greenville, North Carolina runner Dionne Evans crossed the Boston Marathon finish line minutes before the first bomb exploded. Upon returning home, Dionne felt compelled to try and make a difference. The goal of creating the Run for One 5K is to raise funds to help amputees get back into an active lifestyle. The proceeds will go to assist the Challenged Athlete’s Foundation.
