About the event
Friends of Lakeside Nature Center (FOLNC) is proud to be hosting its first annual trail run. We are the 5013c non-profit organization that helps support Lakeside Nature Center with volunteers and funding to help run one of the largest native wildlife rehabilitaion hospitals in the state! This event focusing on raising funds to help builds new and improved housing for Lakeside's educational raptors (birds of prey). You will experience a challenging and beautiful 5K set in the wooded dirt sigle track of the Swope Trails, designed and built by Heartland Outside. During the run, you will encounter limestone rocky outcroppings while meandering through a mature Oak/Hickory forest while having a chance to explore one of the nicest trail systems in the city!
This will be a very family friendly event and Lakeside Nature Center naturalist will have a few of our resident raptors at the run so you can meet them up close!

All finishers will receive a finishing medal.
Free race t-shirt guaranteed if registering by July 8th.
A post race meal prepared in person by Chris Cakes will be provided for all runners. Additional meals can be purchased for family members and friends at checkout.
Each race packet will include a raffle ticket. The drawing will take place after all runners have completed the course. The raffle will include donated items from local businesses. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased on race day. Winners will have to be present at the time of drawing to claim prizes.
Runners will be started in waves, so please be sure to list other runners you would like to be grouped with on the registration page!
Since use of these trails during wet conditions can cause irreversible damage, there will be a "Rain Date" set for the following Saturday, 7/30 at 8 AM
