The New England Water Works Water For People committee is hosting a virtual 6K fun run/walk in honor of National Drinking Water Week. The proceeds from each registration, minus processing fees, will be donated to Water For People. The run can be completed anytime during National Drinking Water Week, 5/2 – 5/9.
There are three registration types, but only one run! The different registration costs are meant to encourage registrants to donate what they can. Proceeds from registration plus any additional fundraising goes directly to Water For People!
Everyone who registered for the event will be entered into a raffle. The $20 registration gets you 1 raffle ticket, the $30 registration gets you 2 raffle tickets, and the $50 registration gets you 3 raffle tickets. Raffle prizes include restaurant gift cards to Greco restaurant, New England Revolution Prize Pack, and more!
Now for what you have been wondering: why 6K? Here are six reasons:
Water access directly impacts women and girls, who walk an average of 6 kilometers to get water.Access to clean water transforms communities. Water is fundamental in fighting outbreaks like COVID-19 by providing sanitation and hygiene solutions. To honor and amplify the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: “clean water and sanitation for all”When children don’t have to walk for water, it gives them the opportunity to stay in school. The impact of your donation will be multiplied when you fundraise as a team of individual!
