Run Like a Kenyan 3rd annual 5k Run/Walk, 10K Run and Fun Run will be held Saturday, October 29. It will be once again run in the beautiful wooded campus of the Sandy Spring Friends School. It is our biggest annual fundraising event for supporting the education of our student friends in the area surrounding the rural village of Wamunyu, Kenya. The race takes place within the grounds of the Friends School, starting in the athletic fields and running through the woods on the grounds. In addition to the race there will be a Kenyan Market of items hand made in Kenya for sale.- The awards for top 3 male and female in each race as well as 1st in each age group are medals hand carved by craftsmen in the village of Wamunyu.

The 5k course is the cross country course for the Friends School. It starts in the athletic fields and runs through a wooded section of the campus. It does not enter any roads and there is no local traffic on the course. The wooded section is gently rolling but does not include any significant climbs.
The 10 course is generally 2 laps but the second lap includes an additional section running through open farm fields. The races start together and split at the 10k halfway point.
The event site has maps of the courses.

The number for participants for the race is capped to 250.
