Ein wunderschönes Lauferlebnis und geniale Route. Sehr gut organisiert.

80 minutes just standing in the crowd before the start, no starts according to pace, big avenues with just one line for runners (impossible to run for 12 or 13 kms) chaos at water stations...(only in one side of the road) people crossin streets everywhere..(i lost all my energy gels when hiting them...) that race would be perfect with half of the runner but i guess the organization only cares about money... NEVER AGAIN...more than 100 races all over the world....and this is, by far, the WORST

It was my first marathon. The event was well organized. I have finished the marathon for 6 hours and on my way to the finish line there was music bands, cheerful crowds, water and snacks, kind people and warm memories that I took back home. I really recommend this marathon as it deserved to be visited, run and felt. Thanks to the team and the volunteers that make it happen!

It was a great experience, great route. Amazing location, of course.

It was my first marathon and it was a lucky one, perfect weather. Made me very happy. And proud.

It's a very beautiful route, the most of the time you running through the most beautiful sights of the city, well organized the day of the race, fantastic atmosphere through the beginning!!!

It's a bit hard at the end of the race running on rocks but mostly is a flat race

Amazing experience running through one of most historical places in the world. The start is from the Colosseum and you go past iconic places like the circo Massimo, Vatican city, the Trevi fountain before the finish line back in front of the Colosseum. Couldn't have chosen a better place to run my first marathon and I will certainly run it again in the future The organisation was perfect and crowd and the atmosphere make the all experience unforgettable.

Although the road was a bit difficult and slippery in same spots due to the paved streets the route was incredible. You can run in front of many famous monuments which makes your race unforgettable. The finish at Colosseum... no words to describe...

Have to say that Rome is one of my absolute favorites. The ancient city, and to be in middle of this historic moment is something else, just love it, and so far done it twice. Hope being back in 2020

I do not see how anyone can claim that the route is not an interesting one, as you couldn't hope for much more sightseeing on a Marathon route. The chance to run through St Peters Square as Pope Francis was taking Sunday Morning Mass, I just had to stop and hand my phone to a random spectator to get a photo of me. I was still running well at that time, despite carrying an injury and I would say that approx. 16 miles of the course was on cobble stones and even on the better surfaced roads you were left avoiding the potholes. With temperatures of 24 degrees it was a tough day for this Brit but I will always look back fondly on the Rome Marathon. The Colloseum, Altare della Patria, Circus Maximus, Cestius Pyramid, Castel St'Angelo and the Vatican City, a quick glimpse of the Olympic Stadium, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps and a good few miles along the River Tiber, what more could you hope to see in a 42km run? It was breath taking!!! It was also very well organised, although they could do with a few signs at the subway station or a few volunteers there that direct people to the Expo Hall who have never ran the Rome Marathon before and the course did get a little short of water during the last few miles on a very warm day. The tech t-shirt and other free goodies (New Balance ruck sack) given out at the Expo were top drawer and I managed to change the wrong sized t-shirt which I had picked up with another individual who had similarly ordered the wrong fitting. Rome is a tough Marathon that I would say is possibly the toughest road race that I have ran and is certainly the toughest City Marathon Course that I have encountered. It is a friendly event that will provide life long memories if you aren't hoping to push for a PB though. I loved my trip to Maratona di Roma 2018.

One of the worst marathons. The route is not very interesting. One runs almost only on cobbled streets. The risk to get injured is high.

Moj prvi maraton i moj prvi maraton u Rimu.

I ran this race in 2017 under a torrential downpour of rain. We thought the event was going to be cancelled when the thunderstorm started roaring but it was not and we pushed ourselves in the rain. I wasn’t made of salt so I ran on slippery cobblestones. The usual crowd cheering from the sidelines for which Rome is well known were nowhere to be found. I had no finisher photo to show but I have my awesome Finisher Medal and cero. I might have to return to run this open air museum

The Rain of that year is unforgettable

Asbel Rutto wins the Acea Run Rome The Marathon with a race record

18 Mar, 2024 (Mon)

Among women, Ivyne Lagat wins in 2h24’36" and writes her name in the roll of honor With 2h06’24" the Kenyan Asbel Rutto sets the new race record The Last Cup was awarded to Julia Khvasechko 129 flags are waving on the starting line ROME – Rome woke up to a magnificent day, with the sun caressing all the runners and illuminating their smiles, their desire to party and add a new piece of history to the thousand-year history of this city. Record number of participants and foreigners, male race record, exceptional conditions to embark on the journey towards the 30th birthday on March 16, 2025. There were the volunteers of the Roman Legion Historical Group who gave a solemn character to the start of the most attended sporting event in Italy by making the ancient shoes resonate while the musical band of the Municipal Police Corps of Rome Capital sang the Anthem National under the watchful eye of the Colosseum. It was then the Councilor for Major Events, Sport and Tourism of Rome Capital Alessandro Onorato who gave the official start at 8.30 am to around 19 thousand marathon runners, almost 11 thousand from abroad, who set off in the four waves to go and conquer the streets of the Eternal City. 40 thousand hearts fueled by the strength of the values of sport, friendship, solidarity, the desire to redeem obstacles. Before the official start, departure at 8.25 for the Inix pushers and the wheelchair athletes including the Paralympic athlete Toni Milano. THE POPE’S GREETING TO THE ANGELUS – "I welcome with pleasure the participants in the Rome Marathon, the traditional celebration of sport and brotherhood. Also this year, on the initiative of Athletica Vaticana, numerous athletes are involved in the “relays of solidarity”, becoming witnesses of sharing", Pope Francis’ comment at the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square. FINISH (MEN) – Final solo by the Kenyan Asbel Rutto who with 2h06’24" (2’59"/km) wrote a new course record, improving the 2:06:48 of the Ethiopian Bekele Tefera Fikre who won it in 2022 and his personal best of almost 3’. Silver medal for Ettore Scardecchia (Asd Running Evolution) in 2h28’33" followed by Fabrizio Meoli (Int. Security) with 2h29’15". “Winning in such a beautiful city with a new race record is a great emotion. I struggled several times on the cobblestones but I was very sure of my condition and my goal. True, the last 10km I was a little tired and I suffered a little from the heat but the motivation was very high. I’m not at all surprised by my move to the half marathon so early: my legs responded well and I wanted to give my best. I managed to admire this fantastic city a little and I have to thank the large audience who supported me throughout the entire journey,” said the winning Kenyan. FINISH (WOMEN)-Victory with an extraordinary personal best for the Kenyan Ivyne Lagat who finishes her efforts in 2h24’36 “(3’25” / km). The women’s podium was completed by Kenyan Lydia Simiyu in 2h25’10" and Ethiopian Emebet Niguse in 2h26’41". Tenth overall was the first of the Italians Denise Tappatà (Stamura Ancona) who crossed the finish line in 2h47’50" (3’59"/km), followed by Paola Salvatori (US Roma 83) in 2h50’48" and Damiana Monfreda (Amatori Atl Acquaviva) in 2h55’10". “What a satisfaction to win in Rome, I’m very happy with my performance. I improved my personal marathon time by about 16 minutes. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I loved racing in Rome with a huge audience applauding me. I struggled in the last 5km of the race but I held on because I wanted this result too much,” said the winner. Acea Run Rome Photos – 2024
