Welcome to the 22nd Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (LVMC) Run to Read 5K and we’re bringing back the 10K! 

COVID UPDATE 6/24/2020:  Out of an abundance of caution we are converting this race to virtual.  We will not be meeting at 12th street pool this year.  We are extending the shirt registration date to 7/10/2020!  

Virtual Race Details:

Register for a race distance!  Run the distance anytime the last week of July 2020.  July 31st 11:00 PM EST entries will be closed.Email your race time with a photo of your time or link to Strava/Garmin/etc. to [email protected] Please include your name, age, and gender in the email.August 1st we will announce the winners on Facebook.Shirts and medals will be mailed out to participants.  Just like a physical race, if you don’t show up you don’t get a shirt or award. :) No refunds. We greatly appreciate your donation to Literacy Volunteers of Marion County.  The 5K/10K and the Half Marathon are significant fundraisers for us, and we are honored to have you as a part of it!



Run through beautiful Fairmont, West Virginia and relax afterwards with your family at the 12th street pool with food and drinks – included in the registration!  Registration at 5:00pm and race starts at 6:00pm.  

SWAG: Short sleeve tech shirts for runners registered before 6/20/2020.  Limited extras on race day. 

Overall awards to top 3 females & top 3 males.  Age group awards 1 deep: 12 & under, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29 , 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over.

Course Map – Start line near East-West Stadium. Rolling course through residential neighborhoods of Fairmont’s west side. Finish line in front of 12th Street Pool entrance.  1 water stop at halfway point (twice for 10K) and one at finish line.  Bathrooms available at the pool. 

No refund for any reason including weather. 

Hydration provided by Endurance Headquarters, a local endurance fuel company. Use coupon code RUNTOREAD for product discounts on their website! 

All proceeds benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County, a United Way agency and a 501©(3) entity. LVMC provides free tutoring to adults and children in basic reading, math, ESL (English as a second language), GED preparation, computer basics & related subjects. LVMC is accredited by Pro Literacy Worldwide.

Marion County Police Reserves and the Fairmont City Police Dept. will provide traffic control.  Be sure to come race with us during our winter Run to Read Half Marathon in January (always a large turnout!).
