Running Water For Africa 5K

October 05, 2019 # 9

We welcome you to the 9th edition of our great event. This year will be a ‘slight change’ in location because of a conflict at Walnut Beach.
We will be running and walking from Foran High School using a new course we think you’ll enjoy which runs by Anchor Beach.

Our course has been designed for all abilities of runners and walkers! It is a great route for a fast run, an easy run, or a walk pace you want.

The start and finish will be at Foran High School. A link to the map will be posted soon.

Pre register (by Sept 25) to guarantee your shirt size. After that date shirts may be on hand but there is no guarantee of size availability. Good food will be on hand when you return from your run or walk. Entertainment before and after plus a raffle with many gift certificates to local restaurants and more.

The proceeds of this year’s events are for a water catchment system which will harvest rain water for the drought season in the remote village of Bwindi, Uganda.  This is the area where gorillas live in the wild.  Pygmies also live in this area. The second project will be to dig a well in Tanzania in another remote village on the north side of the Serengeti Nat’l Park.  These projects will save lives by providing fresh, clean water to thousands of villagers.  With your help, we can make this possible!

As always your contributions are fully tax deductible. We are approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 © (3)organization

We offer three events that we think will appeal to everyone. All abilities are encouraged to join in the fun.

Our 5K Run (or you can walk the 3.1miles) is a computer timed event. Participants will need to complete the entire 3.1 mile course to be scored in results. This event offers awards to the overall male and female champions as well as age group awards. YOU CAN ALSO WALK THIS DISTANCE.

Our One mile (approx) WALK ONLY is an untimed event. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Morningside while walking at any pace from a stroll to a power walk! There are NO Awards for this non-competitive event.

Our kids fun run is  FREE for 12 years of age and under only. A 1/10 mile course will be offered (parents can accompany if needed).
