The marathons does a large counter-clock tour of the city which includes the crossing of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (out and back), and visiting the Presidio of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Park.

Run the marathon route twice ! The first loop is run in the opposite direction and the second will follow the official route.
You will start and finish on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building. The course is a loop around the city. You will run through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, run through the Presidio and make a short tour of the Golden Gate Park. Then, you will run down Haight Stree, through the Mission, Potrero and Mission Bay Districts, pass by the AT&T Park, before running under the Bay Bridge to reach the finish line.The city is not flat, nor its marathon.
