The Sandusky 0.5k – The “Running” Event for the Rest of Us!

Join your fellow community members for a day of glory, celebration and participation medals to raise money for a great organization, Ability Works, Inc.

The Sandusky 0.5K event will begin at 10 am on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 in downtown Sandusky.

This will be a unique event that promises to be full of fun and fundraising for a great local charity that strives to be the provider of choice for individuals with disabilities.

You can expect t-shirts, goodie bags, medals, beer, donuts, music, a costume contest, a 50/50 raffle and more!

Please join us for a unique event that promises to be full of fun and fundraising for a great local charity that helps provides those in our community with developmental disabilities employment opportunities, extended employment, training, counseling and other services customized to their specific needs and more.

Registration fee is $30 and 100% of race registration proceeds will go directly to Ability Works, Inc. to continue the development of their new state-of-the-art sensory space!

The Details!

The David and Jacquie Clark Family Fund is the presenting sponsor of the First Annual Sandusky 0.5K, benefiting Ability Works, Inc., that will be held from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 in Downtown Sandusky, Ohio.

Rundown of the “Run”

From 10 am until 11 am you will enjoy live music by the local band Lace Bullet and your 1st Beer Stop* from Small City Taphouse where you will receive a generously donated Small City Taphouse glass souvenir that you will use for the succeeding Beer Stops.At 11 am the “race” will begin with a shotgun start and you’ll leisurely take off down Columbus Avenue.Along the way, you will earn a sweet treat courtesy of The Frosty Frog’s House of Donuts before reaching the 2nd Beer Stop* near the halfway point. The “race” finish line will bring you back to Small City Taphouse where you will reach your 3rd Beer Stop*, receive your finisher medal, and have access to the awesome after party!

*Participants must be 21 years of age or older to receive alcoholic beverages and be able to show proof with a valid I.D. Minors will still receive a souvenir Small City Taphouse glass but a non-alcoholic beverage will be provided in place of beer at the Beer Stops. 

After Party

The after party will have live entertainment provided by the band Blue Spectrum, complimentary heavy appetizers donated by the Tittle & Perlmuter law firm, a costume contest, a 50/50 raffle, and just in case the “race” got too strenuous a complimentary mini back massage at the “Medical Tent” provided by Dr. Eric Braunscheidel and his team at Health Solution Centers of Sandusky.

Supporters of the “race” participants are also welcome to join in on the after party festivities because this event is inclusive of EVERYONE!

Your registration includes 3 beers, a donut, a custom “race” medal with bottle opener,  a custom t-shirt, a swag bag with all kinds of goodies (Water bottle, sunglasses, drink koozie, 0.5K bumper sticker) and more!

Oval Euro-style 0.5k sticker that you can attach to your rear windshield to show everyone how awesome you are!T-shirts of course!Donuts for carb-loading and energy, generously provided by The Frosty Frog’s House of Donuts.Live music by Blue Spectrum and Lace Bullet. Finish line photos for sharing on social media. #SanduskyPoint5KComplimentary mini back massages at the “Medical Tent” hosted by Dr. Eric Braunscheidel and his team at Health Solution Centers of Sandusky at the finish line.Heavy appetizers at the after party donated by the Tittle & Perlmuter law firm. 50/50 raffle drawing. Raffle tickets are $5/ticket or 5 tickets for $20 and can be purchased the week of the event, July 15th – 19th  from 9 am to 4 pm, at Ability Works front office, or at the event. You do not need to be present to win.Individual and group costume contests with prizes. Come dressed for fun at this family-friendly event! Superheroes, princesses, ninjas, dinosaurs. The choice is yours what to wear, but the winner is up to us! Don’t feel like wearing a costume? No worries, you’re awesome just the way you are! Come in whatever is comfortable for you or sport your super awesome Sandusky 0.5K t-shirt!
“Race” Packet & Swag Bag Pick Up

The race packet with your swag bag will be available for pick up the week before the event at Ability Works. Additional information regarding pick up will be communicated to registrants via email, Facebook, and on this website prior to the week of pick up.
