Sylacauga First Assembly of God would love for you to join us at Blue Bell park for a glow 5K run/fun walk on Friday, April 5, 2019 to “Glow for God”. All proceeds will help with the cost for our missions crew to travel to Tegucigalpa, Honduras on July 15 – 22, 2019. Our host missionaries for the trip will be Bill and Mary Strickland. Please pray for our missions crew as we prepare to travel to do God’s work in Honduras, along with our host missionaries and CEAD.
CEAD purchased a 120-acre tract of land north of Tegucigalpa in the early 2000’s and has planted two very effective ministries on the property: (1) Casa Hogar – a group home style orphanage geared to elementary aged children, serving 60-70 kids; (2) Teen Challenge – a drug and alcohol rehab program for adult and adolescent males, serving 160 men. Both of these ministries are now thriving.
CEAD uses this property for another important purpose as well. The church sends thousands of people each year, almost every weekend, to the site for spiritual retreats. These retreats range from discipleship to deliverance to Spirit baptism to marriage. These retreats currently use the Teen Challenge facilities. Realizing that these retreats are a dynamic part of CEAD’s ministry strategy, the church has broken ground and begun construction of “Camp CEAD”, a cluster of facilities that sit between Casa Hogar and Teen Challenge. When completed, Camp CEAD will house 360 people for lodging, dining, worship and classes. The facilities of Teen Challenge will be freed up with the addition of Camp CEAD, allowing Teen Challenge to experience permanent growth.
Thanks again for all your support and prayer.
