Sid Jacobson JCC's Stronger than Cancer 5K

Each year, Sid Jacobson JCC offers vital social service programs to thousands of Long Island residents in need. 

Cancer touches many within our community without discrimination.  When one family member is diagnosed, the whole family is affected.  Now more than 11 years strong, the Nancy Marx Cancer Wellness Center strives to help cancer survivors and their families become stronger than cancer by providing holistic care including exercise, education, workshops and additional supportive services for participants and their families.

The JCC’s Stronger than Cancer 5k, to be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017, is poised to be our largest event yet! This event connects hundreds of participants, sponsors and donors who are passionate about supporting the JCC’s Cancer Wellness Center. Through your support, the JCC can continue offering programs free of cost to our program participants. 

Commonly Asked Questions

How many miles is a 5K run?  A 5K run is 3.2 miles.

Can I walk with my 2 year old child? Absolutely. The Stronger Than Cancer 5K is a family friendly event. You can bring a stoller and walk as family. 

My 13 year old would like to run in the 5K, do I need to register him?  Anyone who is running or walking, needs to be registered on the event site to participate.

 

0-5K Fitness Training Opportunity

Start training to be able to run this year’s Stronger than Cancer 5K.

We’ll take you from the couch to 5K ready in just 12-weeks.  Group training begins the week of July 10, and will run through September 29, offering group training twice per week.  Schedule to be announced.
