About the event
Austin’s oldest annual race, the Statesman Cap10K will be celebrating its 39th running on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Come see why this is Austin’s Rite of Spring event for runners and walkers of all ages. Featuring a majestic start on the Congress Avenue Bridge stretching over Town Lake, the course travels into downtown Austin and around the historic Texas State Capitol. Live music along the course from local artists keeps rhythm with the thousands of footsteps winding through historic Austin neighborhoods. Join us at the Auditorium Shores Finish Line Festival on the banks of the Colorado River where food trucks, beer garden, live music, kids zone and race vendors celebrate your finish.

Austin Tradition
In 1978 the Statesman Capitol 10,000 started its first race and has been successfully running for the past 38 years. Austin’s oldest race, it has become a tradition for Texans and a rite of spring for Austenites of all ages. Beginning in 1993 the Cap10K started donating proceeds from its event to local community non-profit organizations. The City of Austin Hike & Bike Trail received the first donation of $23,000. In 2006 the race made its largest donation of $201,452 to People’s Community Clinic and has exceeded the $2.8 Million amount in total donations to Austin’s community following the 2015 event. This year $1 from every race entry will go directly to our 2016 benefactor The Trail Foundation. Registrants will also have the option to donate to TTF, and this year, the Statesman will match up to $10,000 of registrant donations.
