About This Event
2012 Second Annual Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Half Marathon, with start/finish at beautiful Sugar Land Town Square, Hwy 59 South at Hwy 6 South. Start on City Walk and finish on Plaza Drive. Average low on March 25 is 54 degrees and mean temperature is 65 degrees. Field Limit: 1,500. Certified (TX11018ETM), double-loop Sweetwater Country Club area course. Flat and fast course. Water stations (with DOZENS of loud volunteers) AND Gatorade every two miles or less, with portacans nearby. (We have added another two stations from last year.) EMT firemen, as well as MHSL medical personnel, serve as medical support. D-Tag timing with a 3:45 time limit, a pace of 17:10 per mile. Must be 9 years old or older to participate. Two hundred enthusiastic volunteers on the course. NINE local charities benefit from the event. Thanks for giving! Beautiful finisher's medal and short-sleeve tech shirt to each finisher. HOST HOTEL is the Sugar Land Town Square Marriott on City Walk Drive, right at the start and the finish, super convenient. Call 281-275-8400 early to reserve a room. Sells out most Saturday nights. GREAT four-star hotel with PERFECT location, AAA discount. Only about $123 per night on weekends.

Time Limit...3:45
TIME LIMIT of three hours and 45 minutes for MHSL Half Marathon. This is a pace of 17:10 per mile. Runners and walkers are both welcome. Please walk on the sidewalks if past 10:30am finish pace for your safety. SLPD will be in place from 6:45am-10:30am only.
NO headphones/Ipods at this race. Please leave them at home. Safety.
This is a double-loop course along beautiful Palm Royale Blvd in Sweetwater. 1,000 runners and walkers share one single lane, with the adjoining lane open to neighborhood vehicular traffic in the same direction. Faster runners must pass others on the outside of this single lane. As a result, headphones/Ipods are a SERIOUS safety hazzard. Everyone please leave all headphones/Ipods at home. Wearing headphones/Ipods at the MHSL Half Marathon endangers both yourself and others. Thank you in advance for complying!

Legally, ALL runners MUST be officially registered with a visible MHSL Half Marathon race number on front. Finish Line Sports has a City Parade Permit for the designated City of Sugar Land streets and runners lane for Sunday March 25 from 6:45am until 10:30am and any "bandits" will face a stiff fine. Anyone NOT registered who runs on the course during the race may face a "theft of services" charge and a fine of up to, but not to exceed, $500. Please point out any bandits to one of our 40 uniformed SLPD officers on the scene. (This is a rare problem, but an afront to our NINE race charities and other paying runners.) Pacing another without a number is not permitted. Thank you for officially registering and for supporting our race.

Spectators, come on out!
Great for spectating!!! The best place for cheering is 1) the Palm Royale Blvd double-loop at DuPont, and 2)at the finish line next to Amegy Bank-Town Square. The first turnaround is great...near Sweetwater Blvd on Palm Royale. Get there about 8am. Take 59 South, left on Sweetwater two miles to Palm Royale. Park on the other side of Sweetwater. The runners always appreciate loud support and find it here. Race ends at 10:15am sharp. The finish at Sugar Land Town Square is the other great place to cheer, near Hwy 6 South at Hwy 59. City Walk Drive at Plaza Drive near Marriott is a great view of the finishing kicks. First finishers at 7:55am. Starbuck's is in front of Marriott. Parking in the three Town Square parking garages is always FREE.

Volunteer Check-in table is next to the finish on Plaza Drive in Sugar Land Town Square, near Hwy 59/Hwy 6 intersection. Amegy Bank on Plaza Drive at finish. Sign in and get a t-shirt. Report at 6:00am for assignment. We have almost 200 volunteers making this race a success. MHSL Hospital, Finish Line Sports, Bel Inizio, Fort Bend Fit, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Ft. Bend Rainbow Room, COCI, and Cenikor help make this race great! Call us at 281-242-7700 to be put on our volunteer list. Park at Sugar Land Town Square parking garages. Three are available, free of charge. Thanks! A race cannot happen without great volunteers. Experienced runners are especially helpful.

Please park no later than 6:00am at Sugar Land Town Square's three parking garages, 59 South at Hwy 6 exit. Turn right on City Walk or Town Center South. Race starts on time at 6:45am sharp on City Walk near Marriott. Line up in the street at 6:30am please. Thousands of close-by parking spaces...FREE. Please DO NOT park at First Colony Mall.

FREE stretching from Corrective Chiropractic's Dr. Logan and FREE Massages from Wes Speights and friends under the blue Fort Bend Fit tent, next to the finish line on the plaza. Finish Line Sports in Sugar Creek is open after the race from 10AM until NOON.
Restrictions
Sorry but...NO refunds or transfer of entry once registered, NO strollers, NO dogs, NO bandits. (NO Headphones/Ipods for safety.) A pace of at least 17:10 per mile must be maintained throughout the race for 3:45 Time Limit. Sidewalks after that on your own please. Sorry, NO raceday packet pickup or raceday registration. D-Tag Timing
A timing tag will be taped to your race number. Remove and place this tag on your running shoe race morning in an open loop, in order to be timed. The disposable tag will then work as a chip on the timing mats. Results at EZTOREGISTER.com race day at 1PM.

Two full days of Packet Pickup/Late Registration in Sugar Land are offered: Friday March 23 from 10am-6pm and Saturday March 24 from 10am-5pm at FINISH LINE SPORTS, 13895 Southwest Freeway at Sugar Creek Blvd exit, in Sugar Land, Gerland's Center, phone 281-242-7700. Restrooms and portacans
Restrooms and portacans are available before, during, and after MHSL Half. There are mens and womens indoor restrooms with 4-6 stalls each, available in the far corner of Town Square Plaza, just to the left of the wineshop Vineyard's. Behind the start one block, there are 15 portacans available behind Amegy Bank. Portacans are also available on the Palm Royale Blvd 4.0-mile loop, during the race, with portacans near each water station. We know 1,500 entrants need plenty of restroom choices.
