Turning Point invites you to participate in the tenth annual Tara’s Walk at Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights. Registration begins at 9am | Walk begins at 10am.
The family of Tara Grant began this event back in 2007 to raise awareness and hopefully prevent others families from experiencing the tragedy and loss of a loved one from domestic violence.
2017 marks the 10th year anniversary of her murder and this year’s event. The event is family friendly; morning walk, lunch and pumpkin painting and other activities after the walk.
2017 is Turning Point’s 37th year providing emergency support and prevention services for sexual assault and domestic violence.
Turning Point services include a 24-hour help / crisis line, emergency shelter, advocacy, domestic and sexual violence counseling, support groups, prevention education, and personal protection assistance, Forensic Nurse Examiner Services for sexual assault victims and a Prevention Education Program.
Emergency shelter holds up to 50 individuals. Turning Point provides shelter to 500 women and children annually — the largest age group in the shelter is children ages 0-4.
Services are confidential and provided at no charge.
