Whether you are a Warrior, a Tiger, or even from outside of Cherokee County, we want all runners and non-runners alike to come out and support the Cherokee Chop 10k and 5k. This year, all proceeds will go toward purchasing a seizure dog for the son of a Cherokee County School System employee. Donations are also welcome.
There is a 10k virtual runner option as well. All you have to do is log a 10k through some sort of running app within 2 weeks of the race, send proof to [email protected], and we will mail you the 10k finisher’s medal that all participants will receive. There is also a “sleep in and stay warm” option by which your contribution will earn you a race shirt without having to run in the cold. If you want these mailed to you, please choose that option so that we can collect postage to mail those to you. Otherwise, we will expect you to make arrangements to pick them up.
The Cherokee Chop 10k and 5k will be on certified courses (see Anniston Runners website under race courses for Centre, AL), and we plan on all subsequent races to benefit the families of Cherokee County School System employees who are in need . The fun run is a 1 mile course for those who just want a taste of the cold but like a quick return to the indoors.
Overall winners (1st through 3rd) will be named for both the 5k and the 10k in the male and female categories.
Age group awards will be given for the following:
0-9, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & over
Let’s get chopping!
***Race shirts cannot be guaranteed after February 1st, so sign up before the shirt deadline!
