The Santa Run

The SANTA RUN presented by the GREENVILLE TRACK CLUB and BON SECOURS St. Francis Sports Medicine continues to break ground in 2016. The run is departing from using trails in Cleveland Park to using roads in the Downtown area. The mood will be more festive than ever and we hope to encourage spectators to come and watch the awesome throng of costumed runners. The run returns to the excellent venue at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena (BSWA), and as mentioned before, has a brand new 5K course.
Anyone who has participated in the SANTA RUN is aware of its magical qualities. Put on a Christmas-themed costume and come on out. Join the throng of Santas and Elves and witness a shocking display of amazingly tacky sweaters as we take to the streets of downtown. Spread the Joy!
Course Features: The new 5K course starts from the Clemson University Entrance at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena and goes west on Elford Street. The first mile (mostly downhill) follows Elford Steet to Main Street to Broad Street. The second mile of the course includes Broad Street, Westfield Street, Gibbs Street, Hudson Street, and the portion of the Swamp Rabbit Trail near the Kroc Center. The final mile follows the path through River Walk and Falls Park before crossing the Liberty Bridge. The home stretch is on Falls Street and Spring Street, before turning onto East McBee and crossing the finish in front of McBee Station (Publix grocery store).
Changes for 2016: MANY. COMPLETELY REDESIGNED
Statistics: The total elevation gain is around 150′. The course consists of 75% roads and 25% paved paths. There are roughly 15 turns.

If you purchased ENTRY WITH SUIT, you will receive a complete SANTA SUIT including jacket, pants, belt, hat and beard. If you chose ENTRY ONLY, you will get a race bib, wristband, and the traditional SANTA RUN souvenir coffee mug but you'll need to supply your own holiday costume or incredibly tacky sweater. Sorry, we don't have kids costumes.
START. The 5K run/walk starts at 9:00am from the Clemson Entrance at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena (BSWA).
FINISH. The race finishes on E. McBee Avenue in front of McBee Station (Publix grocery store). There is a short walk of approximately 1/3 mile back to the Arena.
POST RACE FARE. We will provide an assortment of fruit, snacks, bottled water, HOT CHOCOLATE, and coffee after the race. The post race fare will be at the BSWA, not the finish line.
CONTESTS. If you would like to participate in the costume contest or tacky sweater contests, please be prepared before the race. The contests will start at 8:45AM sharp.
AWARDS. 5K Awards will start around 10AM. The awards will be handed out at the stage at the BSWA Clemson University plaza.
