The Santa Run

 

The SANTA RUN and all new JINGLE TROT presented by the GREENVILLE TRACK CLUB and BON SECOURS St. Francis Sports Medicine take place on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the KROC Center of Greenville, located at 424 Westfield Street.
The SANTA RUN 5K uses the same downtown course as 2017 including Main Street, Falls Park and the River Walk. Don your favorite Christmas-themed costume and come on out. Join the holiday throng of Santas, Reindeers, Elves and Elvises as we take to the streets of downtown. Spread the Joy!
The new JINGLE TROT follows the same basic route as the Santa Run through downtown. The 2-mile walk ends in the large field on Hudson Street (future Unity Park site), one block west of the Kroc Center. Proceeds from the JT go to support the facility and staff at Greenville County Animal Care. Fleas Navidad!
PACKET PICK UP: Early packet pick up is Friday, Dec. 14, 2pm-7pm at the KROC Center, 424 Westfield Street. Race day packet pick up is 7:30am-9am at the KROC.
Course Features: SANTA RUN - The 5K course starts on Westfield Street at the KROC Center entrance, and proceeds north on Westfield to Broad Street. The course turns right on Broad, then left on River Street where runners will begin a gradual rise as they run north. The next turn is a right on College Street, then a right on Main Street. The 3/4 mile cruise down Main Street is entirely downhill. The course goes left on Augusta Street and left on Furman College Way before turning left into Falls Park. The remainder of the run is on the Swamp Rabbit Trail through Falls Park and the River Walk before finishing on the soccer field at the KROC Center.
JINGLE TROT - The 2 mile course starts on Westfield Street at the KROC Center entrance, and proceeds north on Westfield to Broad Street. The course turns right on Broad Street and proceeds several blocks before turning right on Main Street. The next turn is a right on River Street, then a left on Reedy View Drive before joining the Swamp Rabbit Trail and going north to the finish on Hudson Street. The first half of the course is relatively hilly but the last half is mostly flat.

Statistics: Santa Run - The total elevation gain is around 150′. The course consists of 75% roads and 25% paved paths. There are roughly 15 turns. Jingle Trot - The total elevation gain is around 100'. The course consists of 90% roads and 10% paved paths. There are roughly 8 turns.
SWAG. ALL SANTA RUN PARTICIPANTS (PREMIUM PACKAGE) RECEIVE A SANTA RUN BUFF AND SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT. If you chose UNDER 13, you only get a race packet and bib. ALL JINGLE TROT PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE A CUSTOM DOG BANDANA AND A COMMEMORATIVE CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT.
START. The Santa Run 5K starts at 9:00am on Westfield Street at the KROC Center entrance. The Jingle Trot 2-Miler starts at 9:15am at the same location.
FINISH. The Santa Run finishes in the center of the soccer field at the KROC Center. The Jingle Trot finishes on Hudson Street, one block west of the KROC.
POST RACE FARE. We will provide an assortment of fruit, snacks, cookies, bottled water, HOT CHOCOLATE, and coffee after the race. The post race fare will be in the KROC Center cafe. We will also have human and canine refreshments at the Jingle Trot finish. Sorry, no dogs are allowed inside the KROC Center.
CONTESTS. If you would like to participate in the costume contests, please be prepared before the race. The Santa Run costume contest starts at 8:45AM sharp and the Jingle Trot costume contest starts at 9:05am sharp. Both contests will be held in front of the start line on Westfield Street. This year we're offering a $500 cash purse for the best costumes! 
AWARDS. Santa Run 5K Awards will be available immediately after the race. Check in at the Awards Booth to claim your prize. There are no awards for the Jingle Trot.
