Early on a Summer morning, we will gather together under the fog of the Kentucky River Valley. Tunes from a fiddle and a banjo will accompany runners preparing for a 3.1, 6.5, or 13.1 mile trail run along the bluffs of the Kentucky. Family and friends will encourage their runners while food, sourced from the Frankfort Farmers Market, is prepared on the grill; including an entire 150-lb pig raised in Peaks Mill. As runners finish and are rejuvenated by the food that is free to all, they can take a moment to interact with the local artisans and business representatives set up alongside the full band. Trophies, medals, and awards crafted or donated by our community will be handed out. This event is much more than a race, it is a gathering to celebrate our local culture and appreciate our community.
Last year more than 150 participants came out to race. With all the positive feedback, this year we expect significantly more, rain or shine, trail runners don’t mind.
