Valley View Mike Donahue Memorial 5 Miler

Campus Recreation is proud to present the Valley View Mike Donahue Memorial 5 Miler hosted at Hydaway Outdoor Center on Saturday, November 11, 2023. The 5 Mile trail race is the 2nd race in the Fall Liberty Mountain Trail Series. The course is run on single track trails and mountain roads along the Liberty Mountain Trail System. 

This race is a partnership with the Liberty University Military Affairs department to show all our support to those who serve.  In memory of Major Mike Donahue, the event is specifically meant to honor and remember this man who made such a positive impact in the community and at Liberty University.

DISTANCE | 5 miles

START TIME | 9 A.M. (with a special Pre-Race Ceremony at 8:40am)
PACKET PICKUP | November 10 – LaHaye Rotunda from Noon-6 P.M. | November 11 – Hydaway from 8-8:45 A.M. (before the race)
T-SHIRT | Featured giveaway t-shirt is guaranteed before Nov 2nd registration.  A limited number of extra shirts will be available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.
AWARDS | Awards will be given to the top 3 male & female overall winners, top 3 male & female in each age group, and top male & female masters (>40 years of age) overall winners. Overall awards will be ranked by gun time, age group awards will be ranked on chip time. 

Door prizes will also be given out throughout the event.

Those who would like to participate can register and will run their 5miler during the specified dates. Once you run your distance, there will be an opportunity to submit the time via Runsignup.

There will be shirts, right?
Of course! We have to have race swag, and this event will be a little different, just like the race.  If you register by Nov 2nd, you will still get a shirt but it won't be able to be delivered to you before the event date.  Shirts will be mailed out the week after the race.

When can I complete my run?
Any time between November 5 and November 11.

Where can I complete my run?
You can run anywhere you’d like! Encourage friends from around the country, even globe, to participate with you in this special military appreciation event.

Our typical Course Map and Elevation profile can be found on our "Maps" page, if you wish to run a comparable 5 miles. Please be responsible and respect all directions by the parks department or other local officials where you choose to run. You are operating as an individual while you complete this run.

*LMTS FINISHER AWARDS | Awards will be given to all runners who participate in all 5 LMTS 2023-2024 races in April 2024 (Deep Hollow, Valley View, Reindeer Run, Arctic 5k, King of the Mountain).
