Virtual Walk for Water
This Walk for Water is the 11th annual walk event to raise funds to drill a clean water well for a small community in a Central American country lacking access to clean water. Due to the ongoing pandemic, it will again be a virtual walk at your location at your own time. Even though it’s virtual, we will be joined in spirit to bring water to those who are thirsty. We continue our partnership between Living Water International and Immanuel Lutheran Church to accomplish this effort to bring provide access to clean water. Please consider registering for this event and taking a 5K walk on Saturday, May 1, 2021 as part of this fundraising event. Our goal is to have hundreds of walkers all across Wisconsin and in any location they find themselves participate with us to bring hope and clean water to the thirsty. Ask a couple friends to join you for this 5K walk and register together.
Millions of people endure life without access to water. When you sign up to walk in the Walk for Water, you help transform communities and lives with the gift of clean water. Join us this year in funding a safe water well for a small community in Honduras.
Why Participate? Every day, millions of women and children in underdeveloped countries walk an average of three miles to retrieve water for their family’s daily needs. In many cases, after walking for miles, the water they retrieve to drink or cook with will come from an open water source that is contaminated with pesticides and parasites. The 5K walk you take will simulate the trek that many people, often women and children, must do every day to get access to water. By walking in this event, you help raise awareness of the global water crisis and also provide funds for a clean water well in a small village in Honduras. Here is your chance to “think globally and act locally” to make a difference right in your own community. We hope that all participants in this Walk for Water will gain a better understanding of the challenges people around the world face daily in search of something that we take for granted – access to clean water.
Proceeds? This fundraising event is sponsored by Immanuel Lutheran Church and all proceeds will go to Living Water International to be used to cover the costs incurred to drill a well in a small village in Honduras that lacks clean water. It costs approx. $10,000 to drill a well in Central America with Living Water International. Additional information about Living Water international is available at www.water.cc
