This race is in memory of Matthew Rairdon who’s life was tragically taken in November 2013. When preparing to go to college, Matt was extremely appreciative to receive a scholarship to attend St. Joseph’s college. The intent of this scholarship fund is to help other people who want to pursue a nursing education at St. Joseph’s in the future. The first scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2014.
As the days pass through this pandemic, we have come to an extremely difficult decision that we will NOT host an in-person 5k at Riverbank Park. Instead, we will host an entirely virtual 5k. We have made a short video about this. You can watch it here.
This year we are doing something a little different with our charitable giving. In addition to our scholarship giving, we will raise funds to donate an ENT Exam chair to the Emergency Department at Mercy Hospital. These chairs are extremely useful as they support a wide variety of patient encounters. Here is an example of an ENT Chair, although this may not be the exact model that we donate.
Please consider helping out by joining us in a virtual 5k. We ask that you create your own route on the day of the race. Please do not run the traditional course in order for us to practice social distancing.
Thank you! We will see you next year.
