WMU Elimination Mile

Ever wanted to run a mile in a different way?

Club Running at WMU (RunWestern) is pleased to present the first iteration of this event.

Event Start Promptly at 10:30 AM, 10 AM Check-In

 

This event is open to WMU Students only.

Please present your Bronco ID at the event to receive WMU Signature credit. 

 

 

 

Our current setup for the race is as follows:

There will be three heats, each with different pacing requirements:

Group One: (4:30-6:30 Mile Pace) 

Group Two: (6:30-8:00 Mile Pace)

Group Three: (8:00-11:00 Mile Pace)

Each group will need to maintain a designated pace per lap (400 meters) that is outlined below, or else disqualification will occur. 

SPIKES ARE ALLOWED!

Group 1

Lap One: No faster than 1:35

Lap Two: No faster than 1:30

Lap Three: No faster than 1:25

Lap Four: All out

Group 2

Lap One: No faster than 1:45

Lap Two: No faster than 1:40

Lap Three: No faster than 1:35

Lap Four: All out

Group 3

Lap One: No faster than 1:55

Lap Two: No faster than 1:50

Lap Three: No faster than 1:45

Lap Four: All out

 

Each group will contain a minimum of 5 people,  and a max of 8. For each lap, one person will be eliminated. At the end of the third lap, the remaining runners will not have any time constraints and can proceed as fast as possible to the finish.

Groups will be adjusted as needed and as we get number of racers!

First place of each group receives a free t-shirt/singlet of their choice.
