The race, which will be celebrated next March 25, has experienced a growth of more than 28% in relation to the last edition, in which there were 15.134 registered
A total of 19.455 runners, 4.321 more than in the last edition, in which they were 15.134, have registered to take part next March 25 in the Zurich Marató de Barcelona, which represents a growth of more than 28% in relation to 2011.
The term of inscriptions was closed last Sunday at 12 p.m. and the 19.455 inscriptions received up to that moment mean the seventh consecutive record of participation for the Zurich Marató de Barcelona since in 2006 it started its new stage managed by Barcelona’s City Hall and the Institut Barcelona Esports. That year, the first one after the temporary cancellation of the race in 2005, 4.425 runners were registered, in 2007 they were 7.475, in 2008; 9.121, one year later 9.752, in 2010; 12.211 and last year 15.134, record that now has been widely broken.
With this number of participants, the Zurich Marató de Barcelona can aspire to place as the fourth marathon in the European ranking of 2012 in finishers, which is the factor habitually used to measure its importance.
The Zurich Marató de Barcelona will be celebrated next March 25 from 8.30a.m. in a circuit with start and arrival in the Avenue María Cristina and will pass by the most emblematic tourist points of the Catalan capital city.
