A new record for Serge Girard, the transcontinental ultra runner

Serge Girard, french ultra runner has just broken a new world record : the longest distance ran in a year without any day off.

He has run 22,582 kilometers in 307 days.

Serge, aged 56, started his latest challenge last year, on October 17th. His goal is to run for 365 days around 25 of the 27 countries part of the European Union.

He entends to run 26,300 km (the equivalent of 600 marathons). Since the beginning he has already ran past 23 European capital cities, running 73.7 km per day on average. His quest isn’t over yet, but he has already broken a new record.
