Here is a selection of Marathons organized in August 2013 that were previously featured in our monthly newsletter.
Australia – Queensland – Sunday August 4, 2013 – 06:00
The course of the race is mostly flat except for the bridges the runners will have to cross along the way. After running through Brisbane’s major city streets, across the Story Bridge, along the Brisbane River, they will finish in the Botanical Gardens.
USA – Oregon – Saturday August 17, 2013 – 07:00
The Forest Park, located in Portland, has an 80-mile trail system on which the marathon participants will run on. The race is both challenging and fun. All benefits will go the Forest Park Conservancy.
Finland – Southern Finland – Saturday August 17, 2013
The race celebrates the local legend Paavo Nurmi by starting in front of its statue. After a tour of Helsinki, its islands and its parks, the runners will finish on the tracks of the Olympic Stadium.
USA – Pennsylvania – Sunday August 18, 2013 – 07:00
Most of the race is run alongside the historic Oil Creek where the American Oil Industry started 150 years ago. Except for the first 8 miles, the out and back route is quite flat, under the refreshing canopy of trees.
Iceland – Saturday August 24, 2013
The one lap course runs around the peninsula where Reykjavik is located. There are scenic sections along the sea, a tour of the historic center and also visits into parks. The city also offers ideal temperature for running.
