Here is a selection of Ultramarathons organized in August 2013 that were previously featured in our monthly newsletter.
Russia – Thursday August 1, 2013
The 105 km race starts in Azau, a Caucasian village in South Russia, located at the feet of Mont Elbrus. This is a high altitude race starting at 2,200 ft. and reaching 3,700 ft. The overall elevation gain is 4,900 ft. To make the race more challenging, the course is not marked and the runners will navigate with a map and GPS.
USA – Washington – Sunday August 11, 2013 – 06:00
Most of the race is run on single tracks, its goal is to take the runners to the top of the Angels Staircase which culminates at 8,000 ft. above sea level. This is a challenging mountain race since it goes above 7,000 ft. three times. Be prepared for the climbs!
Denmark – Hovedstaden – Sunday August 11, 2013 – 07:00
The 100 km race is run around the island of Bornholm, a Danish island, located south of Sweden in the Baltic Sea. Farmlands and sandy beaches are on the agenda.
A few interviews about races held during the month of August have already been published in this blog. Check them out.
