Eliud Kipchoge and Tigist Tufa win the 2015 Virgin London Marathon

Eliud Kipchoge wins the 2015 Virgin London Marathon in 2:04:42. Wilson Kipsang who had won in London in 2012 and 2014 took the second place in 02:04:47. Dennis Kimetto, world record holder on the distance could only take the third place in 02:05:50. The top 4 places of the race when to Kenyan runners.

Tigist Tufa from Ethiopia, was the first woman to cross the finish line with a time of 02:23:22. She had won the Shanghai Marathon last year in 2:21:52. Mary Keitany, from Kenya , who had won the race twice in 2011 and 2012, took the second place in 02:23:40. The third place went to Tirfi Tsegaye (Berlin marathon’s winner in 2014) in 02:23:41

The race was Paula Radcliffe’s last marathon as a professional runner. She is still the current world record holder (2:15:25). She finished the 2015 race in 2:36:55.

43,751 runners managed to finish the marathon. This is a new record.

Next year, the Virgin London Marathon will be held on April 24th.
