Ethiopian runners top Chevron Houston Marathon

Ethiopian runners do really well in Houston. This is the seventh year in a row that an Ethiopian runner wins the race.
This year the winner is Birhanu Gedefa in 02:08:03. Gedefa took the lead about 400m before the finish line, leaving his two fellow countrymen Gebo Burka (02:08:12) and Debebe Tolossa (02:09:07) take the second and third places.
In the women’s race, the Ethiopian domination is even more flagrant. Ethiopian runners have been winning the women’s race for the past 8 years and in 2015, the event took the first 5 top positions. The victory went to Yebrgual Arage in 02:23:23, followed by Guteni Imana (02:23:32) and Biruktait Degefa (02:23:51).
