Felix Kipchirchir Kandie and Maiyo Naomi Jepkogei won the Athens Classic Marathon

Felix Kipchirchir Kandie won the marathon in Athens with a time of 2:10:37. With this time, he set a new corse record. The previous record had been set during the olympic Games in 2004 by Italian runner Stefano Baldini. Kandie lead a group of Kenyan on the finish line. Raymond Kimutai Bett took the second place in 2:12:34 and Josphat Kiptanui Too Chobei the third in 2:15:38.

In the women’s race, the winner was Maiyo Naomi Jepkogei in 3:41:06. The second place went to Rotich Nancy Joan (2:41:29) and the third to Chobei Linah Jerop (2:42:41).
