Many records broken at the ScotiaBank Ottawa Marathon 2014

The event was celebrating its 40th anniversary and many records where broken during the weekend.

Mary Keitany (Kenya) broke the women’s record on the Ottawa 10K in 31:21:7. The previous record of 31:24 was set in 2005.

Yemane Tsegay (Ethiopia) won the Marathon race in 2:06:54, setting a new course record (previous record set in 2013 in 2:08:04) as well as a new fastest marathon run in Canada. The previous record was set in Toronto in 2013 with a time of 2:07:05.

And finally, Tigist Tufa also from Ethiopia won the women’s race and set a new course record with a time of 2:24:31. The previous record was set last year in 2:25:30.

A total of 47,500 participants had registered for all the races of the weekend. This is also a new record.
